The typography and design of old signs from the 1950's and 60's like these have always tickled my fancy. The neon lights, letters in bubbles, futuristic arrows, and creative play with type is just something we don't get to see in today's signs - it's unfortunate because it seems the creative flow has disappeared for sign illustrators, whether that is due to the client's lack of approval for better designs, or a lack of sign illustrators' motivation.
Either way, it's great to see Julie creating these paintings to bring them into your home. Can't wait to see more of these, MGB!
