El Gato Gomez Getting Some Love from Portland

Check out this short and sweet Q & A with artist El Gato Gomez, AKA CZM (previously here), on the Portland-based blog PeterBryanJenkins. El Gato says "I LOVE what I do and I am rewarded every time I sit down at my work table to paint, after moving the watering can, and the plastic armies, and the laundry detergent out of the way." It definitely shows in her work, and I am constantly wanting to see more!

CZM's Mod as a Hotter at Zombo Gallery this Weekend ONLY!

This is a late notice but the current show at Zombo Gallery (4900 Hatfield St) is Pittsburgh-based artist CZM's (previously here) Mod as a Hotter! The rad retro art of CZM leaves little to be desired when you dig the cool art of Jim Flora and Gene Deitch. It is outstanding to see her art in person, and it's only up this weekend, so stop by ASAP!

The Art of CZM!

CZM is a cool local artist that has a very whimsical feel to her pieces. It's all good, but I particularly like her characters - reminds me a lot of Amanda Visell's work. It is apparent the designs are inspired by 1950's/60's advertisements which were likely created by Mary Blair, Jim Flora and the like.

CZM's website could use a little better navigation for presentation of the nice works with some higher res images, but it's a start. Keep the work coming!
