Puppets for Pages!

Puppets for Pages is a "volunteer-supported campaign run by Pittsburgh puppeteer Flora Shepherd and community activist Katrina Struloeff (of the Union Project, Get Larimer and more) in response to the first time the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has ever closed any of its branches."

They have a list of upcoming events which will be held to support the libraries in danger of closing to stay open. Personally, it is a disgrace to even think about shutting down a library. It may be tough times, but I don't believe cutting funds enough to shut down an entire library is the correct answer. Although the internet is used widely for research today, libraries still play an important role in society where there is an enormous surplus of information that you still will not find on the internet.

“There is not such a cradle of democracy upon the earth as the free public library, this republic of letters, where neither rank, office, nor wealth receives the slightest consideration.”
–Andrew Carnegie
